All Nations Theatre is a Calgary based company formed in 1991. We work with communities (schools, organizations, and groups), using Forum Theatre, Image Theatre and other participatory theatre techniques to explore issues and facilitate positive social change through interactive workshops and theatre.
"This residency proved to be extremely valuable and worthwhile to both staff and students. This type of residency is both powerful and necessary in dealing with the serious issues that students face today. To be able to give children extended opportunities to discuss, share, reflect and work through personal worries and concerns is vital in coping with student well-being. The teachers appreciated the opportunity to watch their students' work using an alternative dramatic perspective. It was evident that the students felt comfortable and safe and were able to take the risks necessary to express personal feelings and experiences" - Beddington Heights School
Forum Theatre is recognized by the United Nations through UNESCO as a "tool for social change". Forum Theatre is a practical and powerful method of engagement. It has been used all over the world to influence legislation and build more civil societies through the cultivation of an engaged and enlightened citizenry, respectful of human rights and responsibilities.
All Nations Theatre offers half-day, weeklong and yearlong residencies. Workshops are provided for both students and teachers. All workshops are presented on site. Please refer to our website for more information and how to become part of this exciting program.
